Technical testing revealed slight colour fringing at the shortest focal lengths, which was a disappointment, but in all other respects the results were outstanding. Resolution peaked above 0.4 cycles-per-pixel and the MTF curves never once fell below the critical 0.25 cycles-per-pixel threshold.

The Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM delivers the best image quality of any Canon standard zoom lens, but it's also an incredibly pricey standard zoom lens too. Although it features a fast maximum aperture of f/2.8 throughout the zoom range and is very usefully weather-proofed, the lack of built-in...
I admit that, while writing a summary of this test, my feelings are mixed. On the one hand I am pleased that the new lens is much better than its predecessor in almost all categories.
It seems Canon may be attempting to distinguish themselves from the competition by pricing their lens at a premium. There is no doubt that this lens delivers excellent optical performance in pretty much every way, but not many photographers, professional, or otherwise will be able to justify paying...
You can never go wrong with this lens. (as long as you're using it as intended!) sharp, great bokeh, color rendition. fast autofocus. Goes on every shoot. Can't say enough about it.
The EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM is a near-flawless lens with optics that come very close to matching a set of top-quality primes. With fast, accurate autofocus and weathersealed construction, it's difficult to find any really serious faults at all.
Fast standard zoom lenses are obviously very difficult to design. To date we never really thought "oh, this is it!". Unfortunately this also applies to the mighty Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 USM L II. Now this may sound worse than it really is.

The Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8G ED is the lens for Nikon event shooters, but its not a perfect performer.
Canon’s EF 24-70mm f2.8L USM is a favourite of pro portrait and wedding photographers, and is now more popular than ever in an improved Mark II version. It delivers a perfect range on full-frame bodies for events from group shots to single portraits, and is also great for cropped bodies if...
A really excellent piece of kit! I saved up for this lense for nearly a year and couldn't be happier with it. It has replaced two other lenses, so though a little heavy has made room in my Camera Bag and given me a better lense with improved capabilities through the marvalous zoom and aperture being...
My go to lens used to be the 24-105 mm f/4 lens. After buying the 70-200 mm f/2.8 lens and this one I sold my 24-105 mm. Not necessarily a good idea. This lens does not have IS. so sometimes you need the f2.8 aperture to get the shot with the associated depth of field issues.

This lens is another part of the Hebrew Trinity of lenses. It fills the gap from your wide angle 16mm-35mm to your 70mm-200mm zoom. Its your weapon of choice if you can only have one weapon.Personally mine would be the wide angle 16-35 but you know what I mean.If your climbing a mountain and can only...
