The ultimate content creation machine

The image quality your creativity deserves

Enjoy the perfect balance of resolution, dynamic range and low noise. A state-of-the-art 20.1 megapixel CMOS sensor and DIGIC X processor allow new levels of low-light performance, with maximum ISO 102,400 sensitivity and up to 8-stops of image stabilisation.

Intelligent focusing for the ultimate sharpness

Capture fast action with confidence: the EOS R6’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system can focus in as little as 0.05s. Up to 6072 selectable AF areas cover the frame, recognising and tracking faces and eyes in humans, cats, dogs and birds in both stills and movie modes.

A camera you can connect with

The EOS R6 links to your smart devices with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, so it’s easy to share photos with your online audience and upload them to our image.canon cloud service. Try controlling the camera remotely for alternative viewpoints.

Powerful image stabilisation for new ways of shooting

The EOS R6 features a five-axis in-body Image Stabilizer (IBIS) that provides up to 8 stops of protection from camera shake even when shooting with lenses that do not have their own optical IS. The In-Body Image Stabilizer sensor provides roll, X-Y and pitch-yaw correction, so all EF and RF lenses benefit from this new 5-axis correction. However, when a compatible IS-equipped RF lens is fitted, the camera and lens stabilisation systems combine, compensating for pitch-yaw movement together and creating an intelligent image stabilisation system that delivers an incredible 8-stop advantage.

New levels of realism from an electronic viewfinder

The EOS R6’s electronic viewfinder refreshes at up to 120 frames per second and features no fewer than 3.69 million dots. The result is a staggering realistic view of the world that will have you feeling totally immersed in the scene – as if there is nothing between you and your subject. Of course, this state-of-the-art EVF also previews factors such as white balance, depth of field and Picture Style, so you’ll always know what you are shooting.

AF and subject tracking powered by deep-learning AI

The EOS ITR AF X AF system in the EOS R6 has been programmed using a deep-learning AI, originally developed for our ground-breaking EOS-1D X Mark III DSLR camera. In Face/Eye detection mode, the system recognises faces accurately, including those in profile when only one eye is visible. This ensures subjects are kept razor-sharp, even when moving unpredictably and depth of field is shallow. And if a person turns away for a moment, their head or body continues to be tracked so that their face is sharp when they turn back towards the camera.

Furthermore, the EOS R6’s deep-learning AI has been programmed with the ability to recognise and track cats, dogs and birds – focusing on either their bodies, faces or eyes. This makes photographing wildlife easier than ever before, especially subjects such as birds in flight.

This class-leading AF system can focus in as little as 0.05sec and in light levels as low as -6.5 EV giving you the confidence you need to capture superb results.

More powerful battery

The EOS R6 is powered by a more powerful new LP-E6NH battery, which adds approximately 14 per cent more capacity than the older LP-E6N battery. LP-E6NH batteries can be charged using the supplied battery charger or in-camera via the USB C 3.1 connection alongside Canon’s PD-E1 power adapter or a power source with power delivery (PD) capabilities. The BG-R10 battery grip is also available, which can accommodate two batteries at once for extended shooting times. Older LP-E6 and LP-E6N batteries are compatible with the EOS R6, although the very fastest shooting rates and in-camera charging are not available when using the LP-E6.

The Canon EOS R6 is one of a duo of full-frame mirrorless cameras from the big-name in photography. It represents a coming-of-age for the EOS R system and shows off what this heritage company really is capable of when it puts its mind to it.

TechRadar UK

The Canon EOS R6 might be the mirrorless alternative to the very popular EOS 6D Mark II DSLR, but it’s way more than just an upgrade. Its autofocus performance and image stabilization are best-in-class, while a blitzing burst speed makes it perfect for any sports or wildlife scenario.

ePHOTOzine

Whilst the Canon EOS R5 may have had all the lime-light, and been the centre of attention for all the right (and wrong) reasons, thanks to having a stand out feature of 8K video recording, It's the Canon EOS R6 that's likely to be of most interest to most photographers.

Stuff.tv

A superb full-frame all-rounder that demonstrates Canon’s decades of photographic prowess, including when things get gloomy

Pocket Lint

The resolution might seem low for a camera of this type, but the resulting quality from this full-frame sensor is superb. Add on-board stabilisation, more advanced autofocus than before, and heaps of speed when it comes to burst shooting, and the R6 certainly appeals.

Amateur Photographer

This incredibly accomplished full-frame mirrorless all-rounder gets almost everything right for stills photographers, says Andy Westlake

Practical Photography

What does Canon's EOS R6 offer for its significant price tag? Quite a lot. What's The Best has put the Canon EOS R6 to the test.

Pickr

If you can get past the feeling that the sensor could be a little bigger, Canon’s R6 provides a full-frame camera worth playing with, ideal for anyone keen to make the next step in their craft.

PhotoReview

In our opinion the EOS R6 sits at the top of Canon’s current mirrorless camera range, largely because it ticks so many boxes and is a better all-round camera than its higher-priced sibling.

PC Magazine

The EOS R6 is Canon's best mirrorless camera, with a stabilized, full-frame image sensor and an outstanding autofocus system, but video-first creatives will want to look elsewhere.

Purchased camera to supplement EOS 6D. Was sceptical about the claimed advantages of this camera over the mirror cameras. I shouldn't have been. Autofotus is great and Image stabilisation really does reduce the need for a tripod with compatible lenses. Highly recommended.

I’ve waited a long time to buy my first mirrorless full frame camera. I’ve only had chance to use it a couple of times in the 2 weeks I’ve had it but I’m amazed with it. It certainly lives up to my expectations both in the studio and for wildlife photography too.

Pros great like the r5 but cheaper.Only wish it recorded 4k at 120p

Really glad I chose the R6 over the R5 as the lower Mp sensor is actually a benefit for bird and wildlife photography.. Recommend removing auto-focus from the shutter release button and using dual back button focussing withAF-ON button for initial focus and eye auto-focus assigned to the * button.

Love the R6 so far although there remains much to learn. l photograph wildlife, particularly birds, & my decision to upgrade to the R6 was influenced by the weight of my chunky old 7D II + long lens. l'll probably revert to the rugged 7D II on days with an iffy weather forecast.

Wilkinson Cameras

Excellent quality. Used twice to date, one wildlife day shoot and a studio shot. Eye tracking excellent. Not tried on moving vehicles as yet. Definitely a good buy. Would definitely recommend the R6.

A great camera. Given the weather and time of year I have mostly used it in low light conditions so far and the results have been exceptionally good. I have upgraded from a Canon 5D Mark II and so the controls are similar but still much to learn. The biggest improvement is in the quality of the focussing which is both fast and accurate. The camera works perfectly well with all my old L series EOS lenses and an added bonus is the 1.4x converter combined with the 100-400mm zoom now have auto focus whereas the 5d only had manual focus in this set up.

Amazing camera. Autofocus is just super. Great customisation too.

My main concern changing from 5D mk4 to R6 was less resolution. Needn't have worried, the picture quality is in a different league from this camera. Mated to the 100-500, as opposed to old camera with EF 100-400, different world. Focusing awesome, colours more life-like. Very little processing needed to pictures. Good value Camera body, but RF lenses too expensive.
