Blackmagic Design is an Australian company that has taken the world by storm with their range of video and broadcast equipment.
The Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera is a highly compact camera which records to SDXC/ SDHC cards in digital Super-16 1080p RAW or ProRes, has 13 stops of dynamic range, and is compatible with active Micro FourThirds mount lenses. The camera has 12.48mmx7.02mm Super 16mm image sensor size. It can take video at 23.976p, 24p, 25p, 29.97p, and 30p. It has a built-in stereo mic and 3.5mm audio jack. It cannot take photos, but has a time-lapse function.
The camera is part of a range that is becoming synonymous with high quality movie production and is small enough to fit in to your pocket. There is a huge range of Micro FourThirds from Panasonic and Olympus, as well as a dedicated movie range of lenses from Samyang and Tokina.
With smooth video that would rival the BBC or Sky, the Pocket Cinema Camera is very similar in size to the Panasonic TZ range, has a strong grip design, long life battery and ideal for a range of styles of movies.
