Nikonos is the brand name of a series of 35mm format cameras specifically designed for underwater photography launched by Nikon in 1963.

The Nikonos system was immensely popular with both amateur and professional underwater photographers. Its compact design, ease of use, and excellent optical quality set the standard for several decades of underwater imaging.

The Nikonos V is a viewfinder camera with through-the-lens auto exposure both for ambient light as well as flash.

It's easy to take great pictures with this fun underwater camera. Just select your film speed, then pick a lens aperture that will provide you with the most desirable depth-of-field.

With Aperture-Priority automatic exposure operation, the Nikonos-V sets the right shutter speed for you - from 1/1000 of a second to 1/30 of a second for ambient light exposures. Also available is TTL auto-flash exposure control.

Or, for greater creative control, you can opt for manual exposure. In either case, the Nikonos-V shows you bright LED shutter speed and exposure information right inside the viewfinder. Ergonomically designed for easy operation with diving gloves or bare hands. O-rings allow for water-tight picture-taking down to 165 feet.

The Nikonos V is an underwater camera for SCUBA, snorkeling, paddle-out surfing, swimming, firefighting, smoke, and any other wet or hazardous environment.

It's ultra-tough, made out of a brick of solid alloy. Today it's popular for use in every kind of severe environment like hurricanes, hailstorms, explosive or poisonous atmospheres, skiing, sailing, riots, blowing sand, dusty tombs and any other dirty, nasty or otherwise difficult location.

It doesn't care what you throw at; it's impervious to everything. You have to pick it up to appreciate how tough it is; this is a purpose-built camera that can withstand anything.

It's easy to carry and shoot, and shoots well. It has big, simple controls and is easy to shoot while wearing gloves. It has standard strap lugs and carries like any other camera.
