Bright and Brilliant in Any Light

A truly versatile high-performance lens, the AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.4G is the choice of pro and serious photographers for landscapes, night scenes, interiors, weddings, photojournalism, astrophotography and more. The 35mm focal length provides a natural angle of view, similar to the perception of the human eye. With an ultra-fast f/1.4 aperture, this lens will help you capture beautiful images with a shallow depth-of-field, even in the most challenging of lighting conditions.

Exceptionally fast f/1.4 aperture

Capture stunning images with breath-taking clarity long after the sun has gone down. Discover the soft subtleties of a dimly-lit room. The AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.4G delivers vibrant images in any lighting condition. Its fast maximum aperture ensures a bright viewfinder image as well as beautiful background blur, and its 35mm moderate wide-angle perspective creates compelling views.

Advanced Nikon lens technologies

Optimized for edge-to-edge sharpness on both FX- and DX-format D-SLRs, the AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.4G combines outstanding NIKKOR optics and the latest Nikon lens technologies. Nikon’s exclusive Nano Crystal Coat (N) and Aspherical Lens Element (AS) virtually eliminate ghosting, flare, coma and other types of aberration when shooting at wider apertures. Silent Wave Motor (SWM) and Rear Focusing (RF) enables fast, smooth, accurate and quiet autofocus operation, and a convenient Manual/Autofocus switch (M/A) allows for seamless override of the autofocus system. Simply put, the AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.4G is an advanced lens for advanced D-SLR cameras.

Prime image quality for the sharpest of details

Because of its low light capabilities and 63 degree angle of view on an FX DSLR, the AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.4G might be one of the most useful prime lenses Nikon offers. If you only select only one fast prime lens to own, this is the one you've been waiting for.

Fast glass ready for action

The AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.4G can be used for landscapes, portraits, travel, street photography, photo journalism, available light and whenever there needs to be separation between the foreground subject and the background.

Silent Wave Motor

AF-S NIKKOR lenses feature Nikon’s Silent Wave Motor, which represents a significant advance in AF lens technology.

Nano Crystal Coat

An anti-reflective coating developed by Nikon that virtually eliminates internal lens element reflections across a wide range of wavelengths.

AS

AS stands for Aspherical lens elements. This type of lens utilizes non-spherical surfaces on either one or both sides of the glass in order to eliminate certain types of lens aberration.

M/A

Select NIKKOR lenses have a focusing mode which allows switching from automatic to manual focusing with virtually no lag time by simply turning the focusing ring on the lens.

Rear Focusing System

A system in which only the rear lens group moves during focusing, thus eliminating changes in the physical length of the lens during focusing and enabling faster focusing. Such lenses are designated with RF on the lens barrel.

In short, this is a highly corrected lens that is likely to satisfy even the most discerning users. Nikon users whose pockets are less deep can choose between the 35mm f/1.8 DX lens, for around £160, and the 35mm f/2 D version for about £260.

LensTip.com

The mere comparison between the number of pros and cons and one glance at the price of the tested lens shows that our summary can’t be positive. If you buy an expensive, fast fixed-focal lens you have every right to expect resolution records and the Nikkor 1.4/35 provides these.

Photography BLOG

Optically, the Nikon AF-S Nikkor 35mm f/1.4G is a stunningly good lens. Sharpness is remarkably high at f/1.4, and simply excellent from f/2 onwards. Lateral chromatic aberrations are kept to a minimum, and the fast lens' ability to separate the subject from the background is outstanding for a...

For those looking for a wide angle lens with a fast maximum aperture could do a lot worse than this 35mm f/1.4 from Nikon. Sharpness levels in the centre are extremely high from maximum aperture, it's well built and focuses fast.

I have always wanted a Nikkor 35mm 1.4 in my bag...all the way back to my photojournalism days in the mid 80's:) I found a great deal on one local, so I took the plunge. I wasn't really expecting significantly better performance than my 24-70 VR. Wow was I wrong.

Imaging Resource

For this lens, it comes down to essentially one qualification. If you're a Nikon shooter who needs the absolute fastest 35mm lens, either for light-gathering ability or for the ability to put the background way out of focus, then for $1,800 it's either the Carl Zeiss or the Nikon 35mm ƒ/1.4G.

I Shoot Shows

The latest addition to Nikon's stable of fast primes, the Nikon 35mm f/1.4G AF-S offers Nikon users a classic focal length with all the cutting-edge features we've come to expect. With a big price tag, the question with the 35mm f/1.4G is whether it has the performance to match.

Handling and features This wide angle lens from Nikon costs around £1300 and sports a bright f/1.4 maximum aperture, silent internal focusing and nano-crystal coatings to help control ghosting and flare.

Buy this lens only for 35mm film or FX. This 35mm f/1.4 G AF-S is a very expensive professional FX and 35mm film lens. It costs ten times as much as the 35mm f/1.8 DX , which does exactly the same thing on DX.

It is my favorite lens and focal lenght at the minute. I took some great shots with this lens. It has quick and acurate focus, I would probably find 24mm too wide for reportage wedding photography and 35mm works well for me. It gives a nice bokeh.

WEX

Although expensive for a 35mm lens this Nikkor is worth it. It's sharp from f1.4 (centre) with the edges catching up from about f5.6 onwards. Colour reproduction is excellent and although the lens barrel is polycarbonate it still feels very well made.

LensTip.com

Great lens, replaced the 24-70 F2.8 for a lot of uses. Much better than the LensTip review would indicate.

This lens virtually lives on my D4 in place of 24-70. I love it, its sharp, fast bright and gives crisp images. Has a great angle of view and makes you get in close rather than lurk around the edge of whats going. Some may think its too heavy or too large, I think it is just right.
