The Sigma TC-2001 incorporates SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements that offer excellent aberration correction. It is unusual for a lens accessory to use one of the best glass materials, yet this is because Sigma is seeking for the best image quality, and it is necessary to meet the new “SGV” standards. It is suitable for professional use since its durable construction is dust and splash-proof. It is compact and light and provides easy extension of focal range.

Incorporating SLD glass elements for better image quality

TC-2001 incorporates 2 SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass element. By minimizing chromatic aberration effectively, it has achieved excellent optical performance, thus it is possible to maintain the optical quality of the original lens.

Compatible with lenses of large diameter

Its power distribution is designed for lenses of large diameter. Without affecting the lens performance, it offers stable image quality even to the corners. The rich peripheral brightness enables shooting quality images at every focal length.

The durable dust and splash-proof construction is suitable for professional use

It is dust and splash-proof and designed for higher durability. SIGMA 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM | Sports and other telephoto lenses are able to meet the demands that professional photographers would require in severe shooting conditions, such as in the rain.

AF is effective up to F8

When the new SIGMA TELE CONVERTER is attached to cameras that are compatible with AF at F8, it is possible to shoot with AF.

* When shooting subjects with low contrast or luminosity value, focus may not be spot on the subject.

Evaluation with SIGMA’s own MTF measuring system “A1”

We used to measure lens performance with an MTF measuring system using conventional sensors. However, we’ve now developed our own proprietary MTF (modulation transfer function) measuring system (A1) using 46-megapixel Foveon direct image sensors. Even previously undetectable high-frequency details are now within the scope of our quality control inspections.

Ease of use

A rubber part is attached to where it mounts with the original lens, and it prevents the devices from scratching each other. It has the same materials and finishing for integrated design as the lenses from the new product lines.

Compatible Lenses:

  • Sigma 120-300mm f2.8 DG OS HSM Sports Lens
  • Sigma 150-600mm f5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sports Lens
  • Sigma 150-600mm f5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary Lens

After a quick tuning with the Sigma dock (I always adjust my lenses/TCs just in case), I took about 3000 pictures of a day lacrosse game. The focus speed is just a bit slower than with a Canon L lens. The quality is superb, almost as sharp as photos without the TC.

As a rule, I have never found 2X tele extenders to meet my expectations with regard to resolution. I am happy to report that this one surprised me. I use it both on my Canon 6D and EOS 5M along with my Sigma 150-600 Contemporary.

I used this with my Sigma 150-600 Sport lens to shoot the eclipse, and got great, sharp shots. Autofocus doesn't work with this teleconverter, which limits its usefulness. Extends my lens out to 1200mm, 1920mm on my 7DmkII

Much improved 2X converter. The lens is sharper, better color and contrast and better edge to edge than the older Sigma 2X

Used w. the 300-800 mm Sigma 5.6 I have to admit it has produced much better than expected. The days of a tele producing very poor results may be over! this has done very good work for me and even will autofocus most of the time on a Nikon 810.

I purchased this to attach to the Sigma 150-600 Sports - mainly to take pictures of the Solar Eclipse. However, try as I may could not get good focus using it. I knew it can't be the lens because I shot the eclipse and totality without the teleconverter and my images are tack sharp.

It is an amazing piece, although a little hard to attach, it's a great assessory.

I tried this converter many times and quickly realized how difficult it is to focus manually with a combination with my Sigma 150-600 mm Contemporary lens. The lens itself does a very good job. AF works nice, but with TC-2001 you have to focus only manually.

The build quality looks very good. However I seem to have a problem with my lens and camera combination. Camera is the Panasonic Lumix S1R with the Sigma MC21 adapter the is Sigma Contemporary 150-600mm also Sigma 2X Teleconvater TC-2001. i’ve took multiple test shots The picture quality is slightly sharper without the Sigma TC-2001 what I have found out is one I attach the Sigma TC-2001 it’s automatically drops the cameras resolution from 47MP down to 20MP So that’s why when I checked the pictures and zoom in they are slightly sharper without the Sigma TC-2001 which is quite frustrating I can’t seem to find anything in the camera settings which will alter this give you could give me any information to sort this problem out I’ll be greatly appreciated.
