The Sigma 35mm F1.4 DG HSM for Sony E-Mount is a very fast, very sharp lens that exhibits low chromatic aberrations and little barrel distortion. Vignetting at wide-open apertures is the only real optical issue of note, something that other similarly fast lenses also suffer from, and stopping down...

LensTip.com

The Sigma has the best results of all 1.4/35 lenses, tested by us so far in the categories of resolution, distortion, chromatic aberration and coma correction. It also fares very well in the case of astigmatism correction and the autofocus accuracy, being one of the cheapest lenses in this class of...

Verdict: This lens has a versatile focal length and fast f/1.4 aperture. With 13 elements packed into 11 groups, the image quality is amazing. It is a bit heavy but it’s fine for larger cameras.

ePHOTOzine

Sigma appear to have everything right with this new lens. It delivers excellent optical quality, at a tempting price point that is quite a bit cheaper than the competition form the likes of Canon, Nikon & Sony.

Practical Photography

This 35mm f/1.4 is from Sigma’s acclaimed Art range, and has been recognised by many as providing some of the best image quality currently available... Packing in 13 elements in 11 groups – including one FLD and 4 SLD low-dispersion elements, as well as two aspherical elements – keeps the image...

Photography BLOG

If the new 35mm F1.4 DG HSM lens is anything to go by, Sigma are definitely raising their game with the recent introduction of their three new lens ranges (Art, Sports and Contemporary).

PhotoReview

The 35mm focal length has provided a classic angle of view for general photography ever since the days of film, and it’s just as relevant for ‘full frame’ cameras in the digital era. Whether it’s equally useful for cameras with APS-C sensors depends on how much you need lens speed.

I have mixed feelings about this lens. First off, I'm more of a zoom guys myself, so I wasn't really used to a 35mm. In general, I tend to shoot wider (24mm) or tighter (75mm) so this lens was really in the middle of both. The lens is sharp and focuses quickly, and overall, the images look good.

DP Review

The Sigma 35mm F1.4 DG HSM is a truly excellent lens, that performs as well in the field as its superb lab test results suggest. With fast silent focusing and solid build, its lower price makes it a compelling alternative to the camera manufacturers' equivalents if you don't need weather-sealing.

Pentaxforums

The Sigma 35mm F1.4 is nothing short of an optical masterpiece. Its bokeh is worth dying for, and given how demanding today's cameras are, we were surprised to see how well it suppresses chromatic aberrations, flare, and ghosting.

Terrific lens. It has a a character which is not found in zoom or standard lenses. It replaced my Nikon 24-70 2.8 and the results are so much better. This lens output is on par with the legendary Pentax FA31 Ltd. Autofocus is consistent and the 3D tracking works great on my Nikons D700 and D810.

Fantastic quality lens, big and heavy, but worth the extra weight. Its super sharp, fast autofocus, wide maximum aperture for low light, and great bokeh, and solidly build. The Sigma 35mm Art is equal, if not better than the Canon L series 35mm, and is now my main wedding lens.

LensTip.com

I am very happy with this lens. I have introduced many photographers to this wonderful and practical focal length and a very good price point. This lens have replaced my standard zoom and doesn't come off the camera for weddings.

SRS Microsystems

Have only taken a few shots with it but it is definitely something special, and it is built like a tank.

This is an amazing lens. So sharp even at 1.4. Solidly built. I'm have a nikon d610 full frame and the rest of my lenses are nikon and this is far superior in imaging quality and build

I have a canon 6d and a 750d the 35mm art lens works fantastically well on both set ups great lens for astro and night time photography really sharp lens

WEX

I use this lens more for it's incredible image quality than it's wide aperture. I find it's the only lens that comes anywhere near to being able to fully resolve a 36mp sensor, and for that reason I use this lens mainly for group photos at weddings.
