Not the best kept secret, but Tamron have formally announced the latest addition to the lens family.

With an unprecedented zoom from 16mm wide angle to 300mm telephoto, this ground breaking 18.8x zoom lens is an ideal “one lens solution” for photographers looking to travel light with the greatest possible range.

Taking over the mantel from the still impressive (and still available) 18-270mm VC PZD lens, the 16-300mm is the largest “all in one” zoom lens – claiming back a title that had been with Nikon.

This new cutting edge design also incorporates Tamron’s moisture-resistant construction for greater protection outdoors and features an impressive macro capability giving scope for “up close” creativity with even the smallest subjects.

The almost silent PZD (Piezo Drive) focusing system with its full time Manual focus capability gives great creative control and in low light or situations where a slow shutter speed is needed, Tamron’s VC (Vibration Compensation) system will help to steady your hand.

The 16-300mm VC PZD lens is designed for APS-C sensor DSLR cameras and gives a 35mm film equivalent focal length of 25mm-465mm, making it an ideal all-rounder, great for action shots, landscapes, macro and travel.

It is worth noting some great key features of this lens.

  • - The first 18.8x zoom for an APS chip DSLR (equivalent 35mm film focal range approx.. 25mm to 465mm)
  • - The PZD drive is now almost silent with full time manual focus, so it behaves in terms of speed & feel similar to our USD Drive.
  • - This lens has Tamron’s Weather resistant construction.
  • - Tamron’s new more contemporary finish is used for this lens with new style rubber grips and tungsten-silver branding ring.
  • - Macro capability with a ratio of 1:2.9 and 39cm close focus (at 300mm)

Canon and Nikon fit are now available.

Sony A-Mount will follow at a later date.
