A standard focal length, f/2.8 perspective control lens with 1:2 reproduction ratio.
The medium focal length of Nikon’s three perspective control (tilt-shift) lenses, the PC-E Micro NIKKOR 45mm f/2.8D ED delivers a standard angle of view plus a 1:2 reproduction ratio ideal for product/catalogue photography and other commercial applications. Featuring Nikon’s unique tilt, shift and rotation capabilities and the superior optical design and construction that have made NIKKOR lenses famous, the PC-E Micro NIKKOR 45mm f/2.8D ED is a must have for serious commercial and studio photographers who prefer the standard angle of view.
1:2 macro shooting with perspective control
Nikon’s high performance perspective control lenses let you quickly adjust the lens' focal plane—independent of your camera position—to match your subject composition, enhance depth-of-field, selectively focus, correct perspective anomalies and more. The PC-E Micro NIKKOR 45mm f/2.8D ED combines that control with 1:2 (reproduction ratio) macro shooting and a fast f/2.8 maximum aperture for commercial and studio applications.
Nikon technology for superb performance
Like all NIKKOR lenses, the PC-E Micro NIKKOR 45mm f/2.8D ED produces truly superior images. Three Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass elements ensure outstanding sharpness and colour reproduction. Nano Crystal Coat (N) virtually eliminates ghosting and flare and Nikon’s exclusive Close-Range Correction (CRC) system enhances performance at close distances. And since it’s a Nikon, you can expect the highest standard of lens design and durability for years of consistent performance.
Nano Crystal Coat
An anti-reflective coating developed by Nikon that virtually eliminates internal lens element reflections across a wide range of wavelengths.
ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) Glass
An optical glass developed by Nikon that is used with normal optical glass in telephoto lenses to obtain optimum correction of chromatic aberrations.
CRC (Close Range Correction) System
The Close-Range Correction (CRC) system is one of Nikon's most important focusing innovations, for it provides superior picture quality at close focusing distances and increases the focusing range.

This is one of those cases where if you think you need this lens, you probably know almost everything about it and the only real consideration is the sticker price. In this review, Gary Wolstenholme takes a look at a highly specialised macro lens with tilt and shift movements, making it ideal for architecture and product photography.
Given the opportunity to test a tilt-shift lens for the first time, I read up and watched some videos to get the basics and logic in my mind. The controls are very simple one dial is the adjustment, one is the tension of the control for either the shift or tilt function.

I used this lens for my time lapse video (tilt shift) for portraits and macro photography. The quality is absolutely amazing and this produced very sharp images. It takes time to manage the manual focus and the tilt but when you manage how to do this, it is pure awesomeness.
Mirror up live view is a must, and time must not be a consideration. Will suit the considered photographer who is prepared to work manually exploring all of avenues the lens can take you down. The more you look the more you find and resulting images can be stunning, would certainly recommend.
