I bought the Benro B3 to use with my EOS 550, weighty Tamron 24-70mm / Canon 75-300mm zoom lenses, Nissan Di 700 flash head and my 'pre-loved' Manfrotto Neotec tripod. To date, I have tested it on location inside Norwich Cathedral, for outdoor landscapes and also indoors for still life & macro work.

Its a solid piece of gear. I bought it to help me capture wildlife with my 150-600 boomer, and its doing just that. Smooth, easy to use, heavy enough to manage this load easily, but not too big. Well engineered, it makes the adjustments easy and it was well-priced.

My one complaint about this ballhead is a side effect of all the things I love about it. It is well built, able to handle my 6D Mark II with battery grip and heavy Sigma lens with ease. When you set it you can rest assured it will stay there. The movement is fluid.

I bought this to replace a smaller ball head that suffered with "creep" with my Canon 100-400 zoom lens. This one is solid as a rock. When I fasten it down its stays put right where I put it. No more guessing where it will "settle" after I tighten the ball.

Can't compare it to any others this being the first ballhead I have owned. It does the job well so far. Even supports my Nikon D810 with the Nikkor 200-500 f5.6 well.

This is my first bullhead. I bought it to hold a Nikon 200-500mm VR lens. It seems up to the task. It mounted without a hitch on an older tripod I already owned and the quick release plate works good.

Knobs do not protrude.

There are better ball heads out there, but this is a great product for the price. Smooth, solid and not too heavy. My heaviest lens is the Tamron 150-600 and this head handles it easily with no drooping that i can see.

B&H Photo

This is a solid ball head that will hold heavy gear. It has a simple yet effective safety mechanism on the plate retainer system. The action is smooth, i have used it in very low temperatures with no problems.
