Extension tubes are designed to enable a lens to focus closer than its normal set minimum focusing distance. Getting closer has the effect of magnifying your subject (making it appear larger in the viewfinder and in your pictures). They are exceptionally useful for macro photography, enabling you to convert almost any lens into a macro lens at a fraction of the cost while maintaining its original optical quality.

The DG extension tubes have no optics. They are mounted in between the camera body and lens to create more distance between the lens and film plane. By moving the lens father away from the film or CCD sensor in the camera, the lens is forced to focus much closer than normal. The greater the length of the extension tube, the closer the lens can focus.

The KENKO DG AUTO EXTENSION TUBE SET contains three tubes of different length, a 12mm, 20mm, and 36mm, which can be used individually or in any combination to obtain the desired magnification. Kenko's Auto Focus extension tubes are designed with all the circuitry and mechanical coupling to maintain auto focus and TTL auto exposure with most lenses, given there is enough light to activate the camera’s AF system properly.

Well made, quality product. Trial with two lens and all three tubes show no problems at all.

Construction is more solid than I expected. Works well with my D810.

Castle Cameras

Impressive piece of kit, good build quality and great results

The Kenko Extension Tubes are proving to be everything I had hoped they would be. Even stacked, they allow the passing of metadata from the lens to the camera. Auto focus works, too. I have the Canon mount and it connects both cropped and full sensor lenses. I recommend this product.

I am 14 years old and got these tubes to get a taste of macro. I was totally surprised when I found out that with all three tubes on, I could get 3:1 life size on a 24mm lens. Only bad things about these tubes is loss of light and cannot focus to infinity. Overall an amazing product.

They do what they are intended to do without issues. But if you have used extension tubes before you know they have limited functionality. If you can accept that these are good tubes. A bit too expensive, but that's what happens when you're the only game in town (with electronic contacts).

I bought these extension tubes and figured at best i would get close up but not macro to use with my Nikon D3100 and i have several lens but choose my Tamron 16-300 mm. I am thrilled with my first go around using them. To my surprise the macro of a common house fly came out with great detail.

I have used these extention tubes with Canon 50mm 1.4, 200mm L 2.8 and Carl Zeiss 35mm 2.8 and 85mm 1.4. You actually get full AF and stop down action with Canon lenses and these tubes.

Updating my review of 12-29-2018, I have used the Kenko tube set extensively and have found them to perform well with every Canon L-Series lens I own. I found the tubes particularly effective with with my 17-40mm, but the real surprise came when I used them with my 70-200mm L-Series lens!!

SLR Gear

I wasn't really impressed with the build quality of these tubes, but in all honest there isn't much to them as they are hollow. But mounting and unmounting them just felt 'odd'. You can't rate the image quality of these items because there is no glass.

Good quality, well made. Easy to fit and good quality feel. I found tubes not as easy to use as I expected. Not able to focus across full range of zoom [using canon 18-135mm and 100-400mm]. I think this is related to the use of extension tubes rather than this specific make and I just need to get used to what they can do. Found it difficult to hold focus on 36mm tube - but of course you are getting very close. Sometimes easier to set to manual focus and move myself fractionally to get focus. I am sure with practice I will get a lot better.

Pleased with it ,later on I will buy a canon lenses to replace it ,this lenses was good value for money
