The fifth iteration in Fujifilm’s X100 Series, the X100V is a significant upgrade over previous models and features a 23mm F2 lens, improvements to its Advanced Hybrid Viewfinder, weather resistance, and a tilting rear LCD monitor among a host of other updates.

Using the latest generation X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor and X-Processor 4, the X100V provides all creatives from professionals to everyday image makers with an easy to use, fully capable, and sophisticated tool that provides incredible image quality when shooting both stills and video.

A design first approach for an image first mind

X100V’s timeless body has top and bottom plates milled from single pieces of aluminium, which results in a refined and classic camera body with clean edges. Finished with a beautiful, alumite satin coating, slight enhancements have also been made to the camera’s grip, ISO dial, and lens barrel to make it much more comfortable to hold and operate.

Weather resistance appears for the first time in the X100 Series when the optional AR-X100 adapter ring and the PRF-49 protection filter are attached to the X100V’s brand new lens. Additionally, a two-way tilting LCD touchscreen seamless sits at the back of the camera and adds another first for the series as it provides intuitive touch controls, unlocking even more possibilities for image-makers to see, frame, and create images.

A new lens to make the most out of any image

X100V features a new 23mmF2.0 lens to ensure that every detail from its X-Trans CMOS 4 Sensor is resolved beautifully. Enhanced for better resolution, lower distortion, this lens is a significant step up from the ones used in past X100 Series cameras, but still maintains the same overall size and compatibility with legacy WCL/TCL conversion lens, while retaining its internal 4-Stop ND filter.

At the heart of X100V is the state-of-the-art X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor and X-Processor 4 combination. The exceptional 26.1MP sensor uses a back-illuminated design to maximize quality and dynamic range, while its unique colour filter array controls moiré and false colour without the need for an optical low pass filter.

Such outstanding imaging capability is complemented by the quad-core X-Processor 4. This powerful CPU not only ensures images are quickly and smoothly processed, but thanks to a new algorithm, boosts AF performance at the luminance of -5EV.

See the world differently

X100V’s vastly improved hybrid viewfinder enables image-makers to quickly and easily choose between the 0.52x magnification optical viewfinder (OVF) or the 3.69M dot OLED electronic viewfinder to make their images.

Offering 95% frame coverage, the OVF provides parallax-correcting frame lines to provide an uninterrupted view of the world as it is, while the camera’s EVF delivers a real-time representation of the image as it is being made. The Electronic Range Finder (ERF) function can also be selected to display a small EVF at the bottom right corner of the OVF, which gives image-makers another tool as they frame and make their images.

More than just a still camera

X100V offers the ability to record 4K video up to 30 frames per second or capture 120 frames per second at 1080p to create super slow motion effects. Filmmakers needing extreme colour fidelity can record 10-bit, 4:2:2 colour externally via the HDMI port and leverage Fujifilm’s advanced colour reproduction technology, to apply Film Simulations, like ETERNA, to their video footage.

A Legacy in Colour Science

Fujifilm’s heritage in colour science has given it legendary status among image-makers across the world. During its 85 years in the industry, Fujifilm has been responsible for some of the most iconic photographic films in history and this exceptional knowledge has been poured into its collection of 17 digital Film Simulations. This cutting-edge technology allows photographers to achieve stunning results straight out of camera.

Apply the look from classic flims, such as PROVIA, Velvia, Astia, ACROS and Eterna, which are loved around the world, or use the new Classic Negative to rekindle a new sense of creativity.

Great low-light performance

The quad-core X-Processor 4 is the X100V's powerful CPU that ensures images are quickly and smoothly processed. It also assists in boosting AF performance through a newly developed focusing algorithm. This allows the X100V to operate as low as -5EV, which allows for focus to be achieved easily and quickly in low-light conditions, so images can be made during any moment.

Enhanced face and eye detection

Phase detection autofocus pixels are placed across the image sensor, and combined with X-Processor 4 and a new algorithm, to provide enhanced tracking functionality and precision face and eye detection. This dramatically improves AF performance on people moving within the frame and those that are facing sideways.

Set the distance for faster AF speed

The Focus Limiter Function can be used to set the lens to a specific range of distances to allow for faster AF performance. This is particularly useful when the approximate distance to the subject is consistent and high-performance AF is needed.

From the outside, it’s hard to spot the difference between the newest X100 model and those that have come before it. Most of the changes have been made to the internals – a sensible choice considering just how much of a classic design the X100 series has always used.

In short, this is the perfect carry-anywhere camera if you don’t mind stumping up the premium price. Still, it is much more affordable than the nearest equivalent Leica it resembles.

Pocket Lint

You might need to be as rich as a king to buy one, but then the X100V is indeed king of the fixed-lens compacts. Close-up shooting at wide-open aperture settings is still a problem, but the addition of a bracket-mounted touchscreen show that Fuji is evolving this series for the better.

The biggest complaints we had with the previous X100 series cameras was the lack of a tilting screen, as well as the poor macro performance of the lens. These issues have been completely resolved with the X100V.

TechRadar UK

The perfect compact camera for the smartphone age, the X100V is a great street photography sidekick that takes the series to new heights. Its tilting screen brings some welcome versatility, while the new sensor, autofocus system and viewfinder make it a fun, engaging travel camera.

Tech Guide

Apart from its excellent image quality and feature set, if you’ve never used a rangefinder camera, it might just teach you something about photography.

With top and bottom plates milled from single pieces of aluminium, the X100V is a tougher camera than 2017’s previous model, the X100F. And the new sensor and processor combination combine to make the X100V a more capable and better performing camera than its predecessor.

DP Review

The X100V is an engaging, well-built camera that produces beautiful images, has best-in-class video, excellent autofocus and optional weather-sealing. Meaningful updates like a tilting touchscreen, updated viewfinder and redesigned lens have us largely looking past its imperfections.

I haven't really got any criticisms, its just a simple and great camera. I traded in all my old canon equipment which paid for it outright and now I'm using it way more than my SLR, mainly because its so much easier to grab and go.

I've had my 'V' for only a few days but already it's feeling like a rather capable friend, a new one but which I feel at home with already. The weather resistance gives me confidence to take it out when the weather's a bit wet, the articulating screen is useful for shooting at odd angles, and I feel...

One of the best fixed lense camera in the market. Good quality image, can't beat fujifilm in there. It's not your typical point&shoot camera, you have the option to compose&create your image but it needs getting use to. Novice here.Very sturdy, wasn't expecting it to be heavy though(sorry,Im 5'2").

Lovely everyday carry.. Great fixed 35mm equivalent lens, lots of manual controls but with all the modern electronics, including optional electronic or optical viewfinder. Excellent detail in images means you can crop in quite close. Fuji colour science in jpg film simulations is amazing.

The X100V is beautifully made and handling is excellent. The controls feel precise and solidly built. Performance is first class - a step up from the X100f I owned previously. The camera is very versatile and customisable, allowing the user to set it up to deliver exactly the results required.

I bought the Fujifilm X 100V as a snappy compact as I have been increasingly unhappy with my snapshots took using my IPhone 12 Pro and this small light camera fits into my pocket and I use a wrist strap instead of a neck strap and am totally wowed by it.

So far very pleased with it. Getting it set up as I would like it is a wee bit of a learning curve, however, I got there. It has some great features, the in camera digital converter is an excellent. The size makes this a very useful tool. I'm buying a pouch so I can carry it about on the belt.

X100V is a great street and documentary camera, professional build quality with excellent image quality and performance, very enjoyable to use and produces super images. It's a beautiful looking camera, compact enough to carry everywhere, great colours from the Fuji film simulations, leaf shutter is...

Bought this after using the excellent X100T for many years. Compared to the older model, the X100V has 26MP as against 16MP, a 50mm and 70mm digital teleconverter, a joystick, and an improved lens.

Brilliant little camera. I use it nearly every day, just so much fun. Cannot fault it and I find it easy to use. I wish I had bought it earlier.
