Seamless Power

The LEICA DG VARIO-SUMMILUX 10-25mm (35mm camera equivalent: 20-50mm) is the first lens ever to deliver F1.7 brightness throughout the zoom range. With a single compact, lightweight lens, photographers can capture vast landscapes with dramatic perspective, take candid shots in low light, and compose appealing portraits with a distinctive bokeh effect in the background. Moreover, seamless iris control allows users to shoot video with exceptionally smooth changes in exposure when zooming or panning. Creators can shift deftly between still photography and video, always enjoying the same outstanding level of expressive power.

Leica DG Lens – Ultimate Optics

Opt for a LEICA DG lens and get the ultimate in optical quality and performance. They naturally meet the strict quality standards set by Leica Camera AG.

Thanks to the sophisticated design of these lenses, you will enjoy brilliant clarity all the way to the edges of your photos. At the same time, distortions of all kind are prevented to enable precise, sharp picture rendering. This means you have the ideal tool for pro-level images in the palm of your hand.

Rugged Design – more creative options

Brave the elements in nearly any kind of weather or shooting location. This lens features dust- and splash-resistant* and designed for use at temperatures as low as -10 °C that is tough enough to withstand even heavy field use. It protects the lens system inside from sand, rain and more, making it perfect for shooting under harsh conditions. Now there is nothing holding you back from capturing the creative nature or landscape shots you want.

* Dust and Splash Resistant does not guarantee that damage will not occur if this lens is subjected to direct contact with dust and water.

Video Support – perfect video-recording

With video support any user has everything they need for recording with their LUMIX camera. Not only does it perform smooth aperture changes so there are no sudden jumps in exposure, it also boasts a silent design for enhanced capture of the scene’s audio. What’s more, the stunning AF performance of this lens records excellent 4K video, where precise focusing is essential.

Comprising 17 elements in 12 groups, the lens system features three aspherical lenses and four ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lenses that will effectively suppress axial chromatic aberration and chromatic aberration of magnification. Spherical aberration and distortion are also corrected by the aspherical lenses for stunningly high resolution. The use of aspherical lenses and the optimum design of the lens system results in a compact size and light weight despite its outstanding optical performance.

Compatibility with a maximum 240-fps high-speed sensor drive realizes high-speed, high-precision auto focusing. Notably, the new lens excels in video recording performance. In addition to the silent operation achieved by the inner focus drive system, the step-less aperture ring and micro-step drive system in the aperture control section help the camera to smoothly catch up to brightness changes when zooming or panning. The optical design achieves exceptional barycentric stability to minimize image shifts during zooming. Adoption of a focus clutch mechanism enables instant AF/MF switching and accurate manual focusing. The LEICA DG VARIO-SUMMILUX 10-25mm / F1.7 ASPH. also excels in performance with a mechanism that suppresses focus breathing, which was a problem of interchangeable lenses designed for still image photography.

Still, apart from fully expectable disadvantages, you get also a long list of significant assets. Overall, when it comes to the performance of the lens, there are practically no serious reservations. If I wanted to complain a bit, I would carp only and solely about the price.

TechRadar UK

With fast autofocus, a great build and the ability to capture very sharp images at even its widest aperture, this is a stellar addition to the FE lineup.

Andy Westlake examines a lightweight prime that fills a gap in Sony’s lens range for full-frame mirrorless Sony FE 35mm F1.8, Verdict:

DP Review

The Sony FE 35mm F1.8 is one of Sony's most versatile primes, worthy of serious consideration by all Sony full-frame shooters who desire high quality in a small, lightweight package. Autofocus is swift, and it's extremely sharp wide open.

PC Magazine

The Sony FE 35mm F1.8 is proof that you don't need an exotic f/1.4 lens to get crisp shots with blurred backgrounds.

The Digital Picture

The 35mm focal length is very useful and having that focal length in a prime lens often brings the benefit of a wide aperture. While not an f/1.4 lens, this lens' f/1.8 aperture is still wide and the moderately wide aperture size enables a compact, lightweight design that has its own obvious...

I bought this lens in December and have been blown away by it since! It’s super sharp and fantastic for film! Due to lockdown restrictions I haven’t been able to film as much as I would like, but looking forward to getting out later in the year and trying it!

Have always been a fan of 35mm field of view as it's balance of compression and perspective is pleasing to my eyes. The lens is very sharp and it's well built although it's a mixture of plastic and metal. Fast aperture allows me to shoot handheld at night without using flash.

After damaging my 18-55 kit lens, I researched for a long time before deciding to buy this Prime lens. Its realyl fast, silent, small and produces some wonderful images with great Bokeh. I just need to improve my photography skills now to get the best out of it!

For context, I shoot video, not tons of photos. I bought this for a video project after seeing Brandon Li's review of it, as I had to do similar work as he did (whereby I need a lightweight all-purpose lens on a gimbal *Ronin SC*) that I could shoot nearly everything on (wide, medium, close-ups).

Sony

This is a standard 35mm lens work well on A7III. My copy has good sharpness. Clarity is pretty good but I wish Sony made a G version. Lens also works quite well with video and continuous focus.

I am so glad I brought this lens. It is well built and the image quality is amazing as expected from a Sony Lens. I had a third party 35mm which I was not happy with so I bought this and the difference is like night and day. I mainly use it for video work.
