We're often asked "What is Silica Gel?"  You've probably had some yourself.  When you buy a hand-bag or a new pair of shoes, its that little packet of "stuff".  If you expose your camera to a variety of different elements then you should probably have some silica gel in your home.

You can tell if it is working because it will change The change indicates that the gel has absorbed the maximum amount of moisture.

However, every two months, hold the Silica Gel to the light to see if it has changed colour.  Usually, this will appear yellow.  If this is the case, place the gel pack either in an airing cupboard on on a radiator to 'dry' it; thus allowing you to use it again.
