Stunning performance. Newfound inspiration.

Super steady and always ready, the AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR workhorse is prepared to take your work to the next level. With up to 4 stops* of VR (Vibration Reduction) image stabilization, you can capture sharp, steady handheld stills and HD videos, and shoot at slower shutter speeds in low-light situations without sacrificing sharpness. Pair it with a Nikon full-frame high-resolution DSLR to capture the decisive moment with a thrilling balance of sharpness and soft blur effects. Covering the sweet spot of the zoom range with a fast f/2.8 constant aperture, you'll be ready for everything from environmental portraits, studio photography, landscape, architecture (exteriors and interiors), press events and weddings.

Optical precision to the edge of the frame

A first for NIKKOR lenses, a new Aspherical Extra-Low Dispersion (ASP/ED) element is paired with traditional AS, ED and HRI elements for a thrilling new level of optical precision. Photos and videos take on a beautiful balance of sharpness and soft blur effects, virtually free of flare, ghosting, coma, chromatic or spherical aberration, even at the far edges of the frame. For those who thrive on image quality, the AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR delivers.

Versatility, speed and durability

24-70mm is the sweet spot of the zoom range for many photographers, great for everything from landscapes and studio work to weddings and press events. The f/2.8 constant aperture allows for faster shutter speeds to freeze fast action, renders a beautiful bokeh blur and performs brilliantly in low light. Add an electromagnetic diaphragm for fast auto-exposure control plus the protection of Nikon's fluorine coat on the front and rear glass, and you've got the ultimate workhorse for nearly any situation.

4.0 stops of Vibration Reduction

To complete the evolution, the AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR also includes Nikon's Vibration Reduction image stabilization technology. It reduces camera shake and vibration up to ~4.0 stops. Capture sharp, steady handheld stills and HD videos, and shoot at slower shutter speeds in low-light situations without sacrificing sharpness. Versatility, enhanced.

Built for demanding professionals

With a highly durable build quality designed to withstand the severest shooting environments, Fluorine coatings on the front and rear elements for easy cleaning, a rear rubber gasket to help keep moisture out, the AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR is ready for your toughest assignments.

Aspherical Lens

A lens with a curved, non-spherical surface. Used to reduce aberrations and enable a more compact lens size. Aspherical lenses minimize coma and other types of lens aberrations, even when used at the widest aperture. They are particularly useful in correcting distortion in wide-angle lenses and help contribute to a lighter, more compact design by reducing the number of standard (spherical) elements necessary. Aspherical lens elements correct these distortions by continuously changing the refractive index from the centre of the lens.

Electromagnetic Diaphragm Mechanism

An electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism in the lens barrel provides highly accurate electronic diaphragm or aperture blade control when using auto exposure during continuous shooting. With conventional D/G type lenses, the diaphragm blades are operated by mechanical linkage levers.

ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) Glass

An optical glass developed by Nikon that is used with normal optical glass in telephoto lenses to obtain optimum correction of chromatic aberrations.

Fluorine Coat

Photographers need gear that can withstand the elements. Nikon’s fluorine coat effectively repels dust, water droplets, grease or dirt, ensuring easy removal even when they adhere to the lens surface. Nikon’s fluorine coat endures a high frequency of lens surface wiping and its anti-reflective effect also contributes to the capture of clear images.

HRI

HRI stands for High Refractive Index Lens. With a refractive index of more than 2.0, one HRI lens can offer effects equivalent to those obtained with several normal glass elements and can compensate for both field curvature and spherical aberrations. Therefore, HRI lenses achieve great optical performance in an even more compact body.

IF Lens

A NIKKOR lens in which only the internal lens group shifts during focusing. Thus, IF NIKKORS do not change in size during AF operation, allowing for compact, lightweight lenses capable of closer focusing distances. These lenses will be designated with the abbreviation IF on the lens barrel.

M/A

Select NIKKOR lenses have a focusing mode which allows switching from automatic to manual focusing with virtually no lag time by simply turning the focusing ring on the lens. This makes it possible to seamlessly switch to fine manual focusing while looking through the viewfinder.

Nano Crystal Coat

An anti-reflective coating developed by Nikon that virtually eliminates internal lens element reflections across a wide range of wavelengths. Nano Crystal Coat solves ghost effects caused by red light and effectively reduces ghost and flare caused by light entering the lens diagonally.

Silent Wave Motor

AF-S NIKKOR lenses feature Nikon’s Silent Wave Motor (SWM). This technology converts “traveling waves” into rotational energy to focus the optics. This enables high-speed autofocusing that's extremely accurate and super quiet.

Super Integrated Coating

Nikon Super Integrated Coating is Nikon's term for its multilayer coating of the optical elements in NIKKOR lenses.

Vibration Reduction

A Nikon in-lens technology that improves image stability by automatically compensating for camera shake. Lenses that offer VR will feature the abbreviation VR on the lens barrel.

When the new Nikkor AF-S 24–70 mm f/2.8E ED VR was launched on the market with a price tag over 3000 PLN higher than the price of its predecessor I was sure that, apart from the image stabilization, you would also get better performance in practically all testing categories.

Photography BLOG

The Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR delivers generally excellent image quality, a well-implemented Vibration Reduction system, fast auto-focus and top-drawer build quality and weather-proofing, but it is a big and heavy lens with an eye-watering price-tag on launch, two factors which probably...

Photography Life

Without a doubt, the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8E VR is an amazing lens in many ways. Although it is a pretty expensive piece of glass, considering how well it compares to its competition, I would not hesitate to recommend it to those who want the ultimate image quality from their gear.

Ken Rockwell

This is the most useful general purpose zoom you can buy for your Nikon FX camera . If you don't mind paying for it and carrying it, there's no question that's it's Nikon's best. This new 24-70 VR is Nikon's sharpest midrange zoom and is the world's first pro midrange zoom with VR, but it's also the...

Nikon's made some excellent progress with this lens. While image stabilization isn't a necessity with this focal length when it comes to shooting stills, it's certainly welcome, and when shooting movies, it is very handy indeed.

this lense is amazing, after spending hours doing research and comparing to cheaper alternatives i decided to choose this lense. The quality speaks for itself i would definitely recommend this to my friends but i don't need to, the images i am producing from it speak for itself.

Phenomenal lens. Has all the bells and whistles expected. More importantly, takes full advantage of my D800 large file format. Very crisp. Minimal to zero distortions. My landscape and architectural photos need minimal processing beyond cropping. Have yet to try it for portraits.

We take a lot of photos of the roofs that we work on, both from the ground and on top of the roof. This lens has been an excellent purchase. I can show my customers great quality photos of various issues and fixes on their roof, making them more secure in the work we have completed.

Crutchfield

This is now my all purpose go to lens for my d850. Love the picture quality and low light capability. Lens does have a few pounds to it but is manageable.

Imaging Resource

This lens is one of the best out there. Highly recommended for any business that needs high quality images for any reason. We use it to show our customers what is on top of their roof. It has been fantastic for us.

We use this lens at our personal fitness training studio to take before and after pics. Especially when someone is competing in a bodybuilding or fitness show. It's a little expensive but it's worth it. You get what you pay for!

Argos

This lens is for proper Nikon dSLRs, not their Mirrorless Z series. The photo is of an incorrect lens.

LensTip.com

I\'ve used the lens primarily for photographing indoor car shows and trekking (landscapes) in the wilderness. The VR comes handy in car shows. Though its performance didn\'t blow me away, I really appreciate it being included.

Crutchfield

So far so good! Using it on my D850.

I have been pondering the addition of a lens in this zoom range for some time. I was tempted by the previous edition of this lens, but thought that Nikon would eventually bring out one with VR. Which they did, but initial pricing seemed a bit high.
