18-55mm f4-5.6 EFs IS STM*

  • Versatile 18-55mm zoom range
  • 4-stop Image Stabilizer
  • STM autofocus
  • Excellent image quality

Compact-size, Standard Zoom Lens with High Image Quality.

High performance in a small, lightweight package, the EF-S 18-55mm f/4-5.6 IS STM puts a versatile zoom range of 18-55mm into a compact, non-retracting body that's easy to carry. Its optical system is designed to help ensure high image quality while keeping the lens compact and easily portable so it stays out of the way and is with you when you need it. Bring the EF-S 18-55mm f/4-5.6 IS STM and your camera with you in your daypack or camera bag so you can capture life's adventures on a hike, vacation or in your own backyard.

Lead Screw-type STM.

When it comes to recording video, you want to be sure you capture all the subtle sounds of what you're recording. Thanks to its lead screw-type stepping motor (STM), the EF-S 18-55mm f/4-5.6 IS STM focuses smoothly and near-silently. There's virtually no mechanical noise from the lens to distract in your movie – just the dialogue, music or other important sounds you want to capture.

Image Stabilization at up to 4 Stops of Shake Correction.

For consistently sharp results, the EF-S 18-55mm f/4-5.6 IS STM features an improved Image Stabilizer system that provides enhanced shake reduction for up to 4 stops of shutter speeds. This means more reliable handheld performance and clearer detail in low-light situations, without having to increase the ISO or decrease the shutter speed. Because of its enhanced stabilization, the EF-S 18-55mm f/4-5.6 IS STM can also help minimize the need for a tripod.

Stylish Design.

The innovative design of the EF-S 18-55mm f/4-5.6 IS STM combines style and usability. The exterior of the lens is textured with a black leather coating that allows for a precise grip that feels comfortable in your hand. The smooth-turning focus and zoom rings were designed for ease of use and accurate movement. A platinum ring behind the zoom ring adds a touch of sophistication, and the EF-S 18-55mm f/4-5.6 IS STM's non-retracting design combined with its lightweight body makes it easy to carry with you wherever you go.

Product Reviews

Compared to cheaper Canon and Nikon DSLRs, the Canon EOS 850D offers a better specification with quicker continuous shooting at 7/7.5fps, as well as more focus points, and 4K UHD video recording.

Amateur Photographer

Andy Westlake discovers whether Canon’s latest DSLR has what it takes to succeed in a world increasingly dominated by mirrorless cameras.

TechRadar UK

If you still prefer DSLRs to mirrorless cameras, the dinky EOS Rebel T8i / 850D is a capable camera with excellent autofocus and a vari-angle touchscreen. It also produces lovely images.

Camera Jabber

Putting aside the limitations imposed upon its 4K video capability, the Canon EOS Rebel T8i / EOS 850D is a potentially attractive sub-£850/$750 DSLR. Its build is very plasticky and it doesn’t feel very robust, but it’s lightweight and easy to carry with a good control arrangement and excellent...

DP Review

The Canon EOS Rebel T8i (also known as the EOS 850D or Kiss X10i in some markets) is a 24MP DSLR camera that is compatible with the company's EF and EF-S mount lenses. It has an optical viewfinder, but it also has a usable and responsive touchscreen interface and live view experience that's a match...

Camera Labs

The Canon EOS 850D / Rebel T8i is a well-featured mid-range DSLR that sits at the top of the triple-digit EOS or Rebel series. It delivers a comfortable step-up in features and handling over the cheaper entry-level models, making it a good choice for anyone who wants a decent DSLR without breaking...

The Digital Picture

I had a few errands to run, and my wife opted to ride along. Photo ops were unforeseen, but the Rebel T8i in a toploader case was a convenient addition to the back seat.

I had a 500D before this and I was looking for a reasonably priced upgrade and this ticked al the boxes. I’ve used it for an event and some nature photos. And the camera has been perfect for both. The features are amazing and the ability to edit photos on the camera is great.

Very good on images, makes the 750D & 800D look bad especially with the updated modes with 4 mode switch easy to flick the settings set up in minutes

Clifton Cameras

Brought this camera few months ago after purchasing the Canon 200D and having a bad experience with the 200D. I saw the 850D online for a brilliant price and purchased it. I mainly use it for taking pictures of nature and animals however have also used it for doing short films, feature length films...

I have had this camera just over a month now to replace my old EOS 400 and am really pleased with it. It is really comfortable in the hand to use, has a good solid quality feel to it and features easily accessible via various buttons and menus.

I am still getting used to it, so far I am impressed with the camera, I am inexperienced and so far only taken pictures of family and holiday snaps. Now lockdown has opened up I am looking forward to getting out into the countryside and try my hand at landscapes.

I bought this camera a week ago and still learning how to use it as I've never had a DSLR camera before. From first impressions it's a really good camera and I'm looking forward to being able to use it to its full potential when I know how too.

JB Hi-Fi

A great camera for beginners, has plenty of features and battery life. Definitely a great product for anyone looking to get into photography.

Harvey Norman

This is a great entry level - prosumer choice for people looking to bump up their photography and video work. I've migrated from the Sony Alpha series and have no complaints so far.

JB Hi-Fi

I am so happy with my purchase considering I had not seen in in real life and took a chance. So very happy
