Canon didn't need to deliver a major overhaul of its excellent G7 X, and the upgrades in the G7 X II build on the original camera's reputation, particularly the performance-boosting DIGIC 7 processor. The only disappointment is the continued absence of a viewfinder.

Trusted Reviews

The Canon G7X Mark II sits in Canon’s premium range of compact cameras. It’s intended to appeal to those who want a device that offers a high level of control and excellent image quality, but slots into your pocket.

Pocket Lint

The G7 X Mark II is the standout "G-X" series camera. It puts the slender G9 X to bed, is more pocketable than the G5 X and others in the range, without compromising on the performance front.

With the PowerShot G7 X Mark II, Canon appears to have resolved the main issues of the model’s predecessor. Matt Golowczynski takes a closer look

Photography BLOG

Although owners of the original Canon PowerShot G7 X won't be too excited by the improvements on offer, the new Mark II does represent a step forward for Canon's premium pocket compact camera, particularly in its operational speed.

PowerShot G7 X Mark II: A great concept expertly realised, the Canon G7 X Mark II is very close to perfection.

ePHOTOzine

The Canon Powershot G7 X Mark II is a good update to the G7 X with the same 4.2x optical zoom lens, which features a bright f/1.8-2.8 aperture, and the Mark II offers improved noise performance, and excellent image quality, along with handling improvements, thanks to additional grip, and a more...

A trusty premium compact that’s held back from greatness by a few missing features

Practical Photography

Defying expectations, Canon’s compact G7 X MkII packs a 20.1MP 1in sensor, which is larger than the competition, and a 24-100mm f/1.8-2.8 zoom lens. While it doesn’t quite measure up in the length stakes, the super-wide aperture brings its own advantages.

PhotoReview

The PowerShot G7X Mark II provides worthwhile improvements on its predecessor and is a better all-round performer.

Absolutely well worth the money. Camera fits easily into a pocket and is so hsndy to carry around. Beautiful photos captured and nice features to the camera itself. Huge plus that you don't have to fiddle with leads or storage cards when transferring photos as this is done via the wireless...

A very easy to use camera, with a versatility, that is surprising in this little camera. I had an earlier version, and was worried in case the features became difficult to use. But, I was delighted to be able to use the camera as easily as the last, but better pictures!

Argos

Good quality camera for the price, but compromises on features: Pros - positionable screen (great for selfies, vlogging or shooting at odd angles) - good quality pictures and HD video - some manual settings available - good sound quality - feels robust - underwater housing available at reasonable...

In terms of picture quality and functionality I'm very happy with the camera. The only problem i had was connecting the camera to my phone. After several emails to Canon support team they was no help and told me to contact my phone manufacturer.

Very

Had this camera a month now and still getting to grips with it. It’s a truly brilliant camera and so far I’m very impressed with the photographs I’ve taken so far. There are many features to play with but I have to say loving the black and white photos. Worth the price. Love it.

Wilkinson Cameras

Quality of photographs is excellent. Compact, if slightly heavy. Great companion to my Canon SLR.

Argos

This camera competes with some full DSLR's the pictures a sharp plus color is bright and crisp. It is not water proof so don't get it wet. Also do not touch the lens shutters or get dirt in them as you will never get it out.

WEX

I bought this camera as a way to do higher quality videos for social media and youtube instead of using my phone and it's been great - the only thing is that the battery life isn't super long so either make sure you charge regularly or just buy an additional battery!
