Best-in-class performance and large-aperture standard zoom lens that offers high resolution throughout the entire zoom range.

Best performance can be provided due to a large-aperture zoom. This creed made an extremely high sense of resolution achieved in 14-24mm F2.8 DG DN | Art, the SIGMA’s first Art zoom dedicated for mirrorless cameras. It is also inherited in 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Art, the second Art zoom. By exerting superiority in mirrorless camera-dedicated designs, the lens size and weight are successfully reduced, while achieving uniformity and high resolution from the centre to the periphery throughout the zoom range. Furthermore, compatibility with the latest mirrorless camera bodies and functions assists in various photographic environments and meets the high demands of professional or advanced amateur photographers.

Best-in-class optical performance

The F2.8 Art zoom flagship zoom lens series is developed primarily to achieve superior optical performance. As extra-low dispersion glass materials, six sheets of “F” low dispersion (FLD) glass and two sheets of special low dispersion (SLD) glass are lavishly employed while taking advantage of an optical design dedicated for mirrorless lenses. By employing three aspheric lenses, this zoom lens thoroughly subdues aberrations such as axial chromatic aberration or sagittal coma aberration, which are difficult to correct in post-processing, tailors the resolution and achieves uniformity and superior optical performance from the centre to the periphery throughout the zoom range.

In addition to Super Multi-Layer Coating, Nano Porous Coating is employed. This lens is designed so as to be less affected by strong incident light such as flare. The mirrorless camera-dedicated design successfully contributes to reduction in the lens size and weight.

Adaptable to various uses and photographic environments

The lens adapts to various uses and usage environments through employment of the dust- and splash-proof structure and the zoom lock mechanism for preventing the lens barrel from extending unexpectedly, and meet a wide range of needs for photography. An AF/MF switch used for the many conventional SIGMA’s lenses is also embedded in the lens barrel. Essential and basic functions are also equipped.

The lens body is elaborately made in detail. Its operating parts such as a zoom ring and manual ring are nice to the touch.

The minimum focusing distance is 18 cm at the wide-angle end. This allows you to come closer to a subject than the end of a hood to take photographs. The maximum magnifications are 1:2.9 at the wide-angle end and 1:4.5 at the telephoto end, which provides a wider range of expression by close-up photography.

Designed to minimize flare and ghosting

From an early stage in the lens design process, flare and ghosting have been measured to establish an optical design resistant to strong incident light sources such as backlighting. SIGMA’s Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting to help photographers produce sharp and high contrast images even in backlit conditions.

Rounded diaphragm (11-blade)

The 11-blade rounded diaphragm creates an attractive blur in the out-of-focus areas of the image.

High-precision, rugged brass bayonet mount

The brass mount combines high precision with rugged construction. Its treated surfaces and enhanced strength contribute to the exceptional durability of the lens.

TechRadar UK

The Sigma 24-70mm Art is a fabulous lens. It’s hugely impressive in terms of build quality, handling, and the performance of its autofocus and stabilization systems. Most importantly, it simply delivers spectacular image quality.

LensTip.com

Still, compared to the reflex camera version, this lens has some assets too. It is physically lighter, a bit slimmer and, what's interesting, cheaper, because its suggested price is almost $1100. The reflex camera version of this lens, present on the market for almost two years now, is $20 cheaper.

Photography BLOG

The Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 DG OS HSM Art lens offers a classic focal range and fast maximum aperture whilst delivering the goods in the image quality department. It's tack-sharp throughout most of the zoom range, particularly in the centre of the frame, with sharpness only falling off a little at f/2.8...

Practical Photography

For many photographers, the most coveted walkabout focal length is 24-70mm, with most major manufacturers offering lenses at this range due to its extreme versatility. While own-brand lenses have often been the go-to for anybody looking for premium quality, Sigma has just released its own 24-70mm...

Amateur Photographer

Users of full frame DSLRs and mirrorless cameras have a tough decision to make when choosing a standard zoom. Opt for one that covers a focal length of around 24-105mm with a maximum aperture of f/4 and you’ll typically find there’s a good saving to be made over a 24-70mm f/2.8.

LensTip.com

The Sigma fares excellently well in the frame centre and on its edge but only at the shorter focal lengths, doing it at the expense of the edges of the frame at 70 mm. It deals well with chromatic aberrations but the spherical variety remains a problem.

PC Magazine

The Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 DG OS HSM Art is a budget take on the 24-70mm design, but falls short of the marks we look for in a pro lens.

Camera Labs

The Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 DG DN Art is a bright-aperture general-purpose zoom for Sony e-mount and Leica L-mount mirrorless cameras, that's a viable alternative to the original 24-70mm f2.8 lenses from Sony and Panasonic - not to mention Canon and Nikon, should Sigma develop RF and Z-mount versions.

The Digital Picture

"The F2.8 Art zoom flagship zoom lens series is developed primarily to achieve superior optical performance." [Sigma] Most photographers can appreciate that goal, and it appears that the goal has been accomplished.

This was the first Sigma Lens I have purchased. It related a Sony 24-105 f4. Overall it has the edge on the Sony and is a good match for my G Master 24-70 f2.8. It is slightly small and lighter and easier to carry around. It will remain on my A7R3 as a great all rounder. highly recommended.

I bought this lens alongside my S5 due to the versatility of the focal range and fast 2.8 aperture. I decided I'm really not a fan of primes, when it comes to working on the fly I decided I needed something that can do a bit of everything and this lens is perfect.

Just an update: I\'m still in love with this lens! It\'s shot weddings, landscape, portrait, wildlife, action sports, astro. The best part is how much it\'s reduced my need to clean my sensor because I barely ever change my lens anymore! haha. Sounds cheesy but I\'M IN LOVE!

As always I am delighted with the purchase of my ART Sigma lens. Good advice and brilliant product

UK Digital

The Sigma 24-70 ARt lens is not a bad lens, but in Sigmas SUPERB Art series line up it simply does not perform as well as other ART series lenses. I own numerous Sigma ART (prime) lenses, and all of them (aside from this one) are absolutely superb.

Wilkinson Cameras

This has given me the flexibility to use my Sigma Canon mount lenses on my Sony A6300. It worked first time out of the box and I was able to update the firmware immediately. Great value for money.

Bought this to go with my Sony A6000 and the Sigma 150-600mm C. Work very well and I'd guess it would be even faster with a A6300 or A6500.
