Versatile, lightweight 11x zoom lens

Smaller and lighter than comparable lenses, the SEL18200LE covers a versatile focal length range from wide to telephoto. An ideal high magnification "travel" lens.

Capture smooth, blur-free images

Built-in Optical SteadyShot™ image stabilisation within the lens ensures smooth, blur-free photos and videos when shooting handheld.

Smooth defocusing

Instead of a standard polygon-shaped lens aperture, this lens features a 7-blade circular aperture for more natural, rounded defocusing or ‘bokeh’.

Refined optical performance

Aspherical lens elements minimise distortion while ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements provide superior contrast, resolution, and colour fidelity.

Fast, agile focusing

An internal focusing mechanism means the lens barrel doesn’t move, enabling a more compact design, faster autofocus response, and reduced minimum focusing distances.

  • Light, compact, versatile telephoto with powerful 11x zoom range from wide angle to telephoto
  • Ideal for travel, portraits, nature and a wide range of everyday shooting applications
  • Smooth, quiet, high-speed autofocus with linear motor: ideal for still and HD movie shooting
  • Optical SteadyShot image stabilisation within lens for crisp, stable handheld shooting
  • High-quality optics, with 4 aspheric lens elements and 2 ED elements for excellent contrast and sharpness with low distortion
  • Macro shooting capability: focus clearly on subjects as close as 0.5m
  • 7-blade circular aperture for beautiful defocus effects
  • Direct Manual Focus gives precise control over touching-up focus for fine creative control over beautiful images

The Sony E 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 OSS LE is a good choice if you value zoom power and don't want to change lenses when using your a6000-series camera.

Camera Decision

Sony E 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 OSS LE is an Auto Focus (AF) Superzoom Zoom lens with APS-C / DX max sensor coverage and it is designed to be used with Sony E mount cameras. Lenses in Sony E Mount with Same Focal and Aperture Range Model Coverage Weight Focusing Street Price Sony E 18-200mm F3.5-6.3...

What Digital Camera

While there's no doubt that the focal length of the lens is useful, it suffers compared to shorter lenses. In fact, it falls short when compared with the performance of other manufacturers of similar lenses, such as the Sigma OS version or the Nikon version.

Imaging Resource

The Sony E 18-200mm ƒ/3.5-6.3 EL performs as well as you would expect for a super-zoom lens, perhaps a bit better, but the big advantage with this lens is its comparatively small size when you consider the huge girth of its predecessor.

Focal range is extremely handy and will avoid you to carry several lenses. However, the picture quality is a drawback, the lack of sharpness is noticeable. Mechanically, my lens also started to show some issues at some point with some vibration produced inside de lens at random occasions.

Brought this along with my new A6500, replacing my A6000+SELP1650+SEL55210. If you're a hobbyist and travel frequently, you would know, how things get difficult when you have more gear with you. Thats where I decided i would go for a all in one lens such as the SEL18200LE.

It is a good lens, not that I am an expert. I nearly bought the 70/210 but glad I, as a last minute thing, bought this lens instead. It took a bit of getting used to - to get the best out of it, I went on holiday and didn't have to change the lens once, I still have the kit lens but haven't used it, but may do in future. Auto focus is ok, sometimes it searches for too long but it will get there when the right settings are in place. A6000
