It features compact, lightweight portability that maximises the APS-C format E-mount advantage, as well as fast, precise, quiet AF operation that make it an excellent one-lens solution for day-to-day shooting.

Lightweight and compact design

Compact (E-mount APS-C format) and lightweight (325 grams (11.5 oz.)), this lens features an optical design optimized for short flange focal distances that makes it small and manageable on its own while also contributing to notable reductions in overall system size, weight, and portability.

7.5x high-magnification APS-C zoom lens

A high zoom ratio provides a versatile 27mm to 202.5mm range (35mm format equivalent, 7.5x optical zoom) that covers a broad spectrum of subjects and situations: scenery, nature, portraits, and general day-to-day photography.

Optical design achieves high resolution

A new optical design that includes one aspherical element contributes to consistently high resolution from the image centre right out to the edges, while two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements effectively suppress chromatic aberration.

Close-ups with background bokeh

An impressive minimum focusing distance of just 0.45m (1.45ft) (0.29x max. magnification) makes it easy to shoot close-ups that take advantage of the lens’s beautiful background bokeh.

Beautiful bokeh

Bokeh quality is enhanced by a circular aperture design.

Built-in optical image stabilization

When shooting hand-held, particularly night scenes or dimly lit interiors, built-in optical image stabilization makes it easier to shoot blur-free images handheld.

Fast, precise, quiet focus

Advanced linear motor technology quietly drives the focus group with outstanding speed and precision, making the most of the high AF performance provided by the α6000 series. Accurate focus is more easily achieved for stills and movies, even with moving subjects.

The Sony E 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS is a big step up from the kit lenses that ship with Sony's APS-C mirrorless cameras, at a price that won't break the bank. It's pretty small and lightweight considering the versatile 7.5x zoom range on offer, and it delivers great image quality with the minimum of...

There is no doubt that the new Sony E 18-135mm lens has a real place amongst those that could be considered as general purpose/travel companions. Designed for APS-C format cameras, and here reviewed with the Sony Alpha A6500 body, this gives a full format “35mm equivalent” similar to the 28-200mm...

I chose this as the kit lens for my new A6600, great choice, I’ve been using Sony since 2001 and have many lens, I usually use an 18-250 on my A77 and was worried I would miss that zoom length, but so far using this lens which is really good, I’ve realised that 18-135 is the range I usually work...

Great standard zoom lense, will likely live on camera displacing the kit lense. Far more flexible than 16-50 for candid portraits and general photography

Sony

I decided to get this lens as an addition to the 16-50mm lens included with my A6400. I find this lens an excellent 'walkaround' lens and only swap to another for specific reasons. I have taken sharply focussed photographs, being able to zoom very quickly.

This lens covers an effective range of 27 to 202 mm which I have found more than sufficient for travel as I can do close-ups of flowers or capture fine details and also do portraits, wildlife, landscapes and architecture. Focusing seems fast and very precise.

Sony

I was looking for a lens that I could do close up work with as I wasn’t getting the use out of my macro lens but still wanted to be able to shoot clos-up. A fellow Sony shooter recommended this as an option but one that was also suitable as an all round travel lens.

I brought these E-mount zoom lens, a year ago, since September 2020. I been demonstrated and taught how to use these lens depending on the focus a picture. Attached are some examples of how I use different focal lengths on Tynwald Hill:

I chose this lens as it is 2/3 the weight of my Tamron, which makes it comfortable to carry around all day. I have sacrificed some zoom but this lens gives more than sufficient zoom range for my needs. The lens focuses quickly in good lighting, and seems to be very good in low light. The colours are wonderful and I like the focus ring for when I feel a little arty.
