Your Next Step In Full Frame Photography

Achieve new creative goals, with advanced performance and innovative features that will support your next steps in photography – wherever they might lead.

  • 26.2 Million Pixels CMOS Sensor
  • Dual Pixel CMOS AF System
  • 45 Cross-Type AF Points
  • 6.5 Frames Per Second
  • 3.0” Vari-Angle Touch Screen LCD
  • Full HD Movie & Time-Lapse Movie
  • GPS, WiFi & Bluetooth

Enjoy improved image quality, more control over depth of field and superb low-light performance thanks to a full-frame sensor that packs 26.2-megapixel resolution. Capture intricate detail even in bright highlights and dark shadows. Image quality is maintained when light levels get low, with a max sensitivity of ISO 40,000 (expandable to ISO 102,400).

Accurate focusing, in conditions as dark as moonlight, comes from 45 cross-type AF points that can also track objects with pin-point precision. Dual Pixel CMOS AF focuses confidently in Live View mode – great when critical sharpness is important, in macro and studio photography for example. Continuous shooting at 6.5 fps let you follow action and catch transient moments.

Whether you’re new to full frame, or a more experienced photographer, the EOS 6D Mark II will feel familiar from the moment you pick it up. A refined design – with touchscreen controls and large optical viewfinder –  inspires the kind of confidence you need to be creative under pressure.

Capture great-looking Full HD video that’s sharp and steady – even in low light. In-camera 5-axis digital stabilisation reduces unintentional camera movements, while Dual Pixel CMOS AF focuses smoothly and continuously to keep your subject sharp. Pull-focus from one object to another with a tap of the EOS 6D Mark II’s touchscreen.

The EOS 6D Mark II can maintain a constant Bluetooth® link with your smartphone or tablet. This makes activating Wi-Fi easy, so you can browse and share images, and shoot remotely using your device’s screen. The EOS 6D Mark II’s built-in GPS geotags images as you shoot.

Your next creative steps in photography

Portrait photographers will love the shallow depth-of-field that the EOS 6D Mark II’s full-frame sensor delivers, and its ability to capture momentary expressions at 6.5 frames per second. When shooting landscapes, the camera’s 26.2-megapixel sensor captures images packed with detail and dynamic range, for images that exude life-like depth and clarity.

Precision focusing for critical sharpness

Advanced autofocus uses 45 cross-type points to focus with pin-point accuracy, even in conditions as dark as moonlight. Shoot with confidence when working with shallow depth of field, and track dynamic subjects as they move around the frame.

Your window on the world

The EOS 6D Mark II’s large pentaprism viewfinder shows a remarkably clear view of the world, letting you forge natural relationships with your subjects and shoot more instinctively.

Compose from any angle

It’s easy to shoot from low-down angles or above the heads of large grounds, thanks to the EOS 6D Mark II’s Vari-Angle screen, which flips out and rotates in either direction. Try using it at waist level for more natural portraits.

Built-in GPS tracks your every move

Geotag each image you shoot with your current location – wherever you are in the world. It’s great for retracing your steps when location scouting, or writing accurate image captions to describe your adventures.

Designed to work hand-in-hand with your smart devices

The EOS 6D Mark II uses Bluetooth® to make a Wi-Fi connection with your smart device easy to set up. Browse and select images on your device’s screen, then share them with friends. Your device can be used as a remote camera control too – including live view.

Cinematic Full HD movies

Shoot superb quality Full HD movies, with the shallow depth-of-field look that is characteristic of professional video. Dual Pixel CMOS AF adjusts smoothly to keep moving objects sharp without distracting, abrupt changes in focus, and a built-in 5-axis Digital Stabilizer smoothes out unwanted camera movement.

4K time-lapse movies can be created in camera, capturing the movement of slowly changing scenes in incredible detail.

Canon 50mm f1.8 STM EF

  • EF-Mount Lens/Full-Frame Format
  • Aperture Range: f/1.8 to f/22
  • Super Spectra Coating
  • STM Stepping AF Motor
  • Rounded 7-Blade Diaphragm
  • A fantastic lens for portraits
  • Fast, virtually silent focusing
  • A great performer in low-light conditions
  • Super-sharp image quality
  • Compact ‘go-everywhere’ design

A fantastic lens for portraits

The EF 50mm f/1.8 STM blurs the background behind your subject so they really stand out. It will also let you fill the frame without getting uncomfortably close, making it easier to get a natural expression on their face.

When used on a full-frame EOS camera the EF 50mm f/1.8 STM acts as a standard lens, giving a perspective, similar to that of the human eye – ideal for high-quality everyday photography.

Fast, virtually silent focusing

Near-silent STM technology focuses extremely quickly when shooting still photos, so you can react suddenly to capture fleeting moments. When capturing video focusing is smoother and slower, for footage that has a professional cinematic look to it.

A great performer in low-light conditions

The EF 50mm f/1.8 STM lets in lots of light, so you can keep shooting even when conditions begin to get dark. Capture the mood of the moment using atmospheric available light – you’ll love the results!

Super-sharp image quality

This fixed, non-zooming lens delivers superb images, whether you’re shooting photos or movies. Sharpness is enhanced, contrast is boosted and distortion is reduced for a more natural result.

The glass elements used in the EF 50mm f/1.8 STM are layered with Canon’s bespoke Super Spectra coating, which prevents flare and ghosting when shooting into the light.

Compact ‘go-everywhere’ design

The diminutive EF 50mm f/1.8 STM weighs just 160g and is only 40mm long, so you’ll always have room for it in your bag. A tactile manual focus ring is easy to find and use without taking the camera away from your eye.

With the recent release of the Canon EOS 6D Mark II, there’s a new, junior full-frame DSLR for enthusiasts to get excited about. It positions itself below the EOS 5D Mark IV and above the EOS 7D Mark II, entering the market with a price of £1999.99 (body only).

Pocket Lint

If you've been thinking about buying a full-frame DSLR but have been waiting for some of the more modern technologies – touchscreen control, a vari-angle screen, Wi-Fi sharing and so forth – then the 6D Mark II does a grand job.

ePHOTOzine

The Canon EOS 6D Mark II gives increased resolution compared to the 6D it replaces, with no reduction in noise performance. You also get great colour reproduction, and an easy-to-use menu system and controls.

Enthusiasts looking for a robust and well-specified digital SLR will find much to like about the latest full-frame model from Canon

The camera market has changed significantly in the five years since the original EOS 6D was launched. These days, you can enter into the full-frame market at an affordable price via a variety of different brands, so Canon has its work cut out to make the 6D Mark II remain an appealing prospect.

A good all-rounder for Canon fans, but nothing particularly revolutionary to get excited about

TechRadar UK

Canon has certainly made the EOS 6D Mark II a more well-rounded and better specified camera than the EOS 6D, but it's not without its issues. These niggles dull what is otherwise a very nice full-frame DSLR that's a pleasure to shoot with.

Canon EOS 6D Mark II, Verdict:

Practical Photography

Back in 2012, Canon unleashed one of the most popular cameras to ever grace the market, the EOS 6D . Packing in a 20.2MP full-frame CMOS sensor, the camera was powered by the outstanding Digic 5+ processor and boasted a native ISO of 100-25,600.

PhotoReview

Like its predecessor, the 6D Mark II provides a more affordable entry into shooting with a ‘full frame’ DSLR than the 5D models, although with the price tag listed at AU$2599 in Canon Australia’s online store it’s not a cheap camera.

Having had a 5dMK 11 for many years, took the decision to buy the 6d MK11. Absolutely brilliant camera in all aspects. As a commercial photographer, I use this in conjunction with my phase equipment, and have to say the 6d quality is on a par, attached is an image taken for a client on the 6D

After much of yer normal YouTube research, I decided to go for this and am very impressed. It even streams as a webcam (with the Canon webcam utility) and the LCD is clear and bright. Just to say though that it isn't capable of 4K video, just in case you need that.

I've upgraded from the 60D to the new 6D II and found the transition easy. The features in the 6D are simple to use and the quality of the shots is excellent. The wifi feature works very well enabling you to pull shots of the camera, edit and post in seconds. An all round excellent experience.
