The Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM is an excellent standard zoom lens that optically is a step above the equivalent DSLR variant, the Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM, which incidentally is one of Canon's most popular lenses.

Photographers who have invested more than AU$3000 in the EOS R body will naturally expect a lens that can match it. Fortunately, the RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM can do that – especially around the centre of the frame – with most focal length settings once the lens has been stopped down a little.

The Canon RF 24-105mm F4 L IS USM zooms a bit further than the 24-70mm F2.8, and while it gathers less light, it's a fine choice for photographers who prefer a bit extra zoom power.

Lens has very fast autofocus, great weather proof and sharp images at 5.6. At F4 in very lowlight it struggles to find focus (bear in mind my work place has a lot of contrast and tons of atmos ). Big fan of the lock clip to stop the lens sliding focal length when the camera is not in use.

Canon have moved things on to another level with their mirrorless lenses. I’ve taken some of the best photos of my life in the last few months with the 15-35, the 100-500 and now this 24-105. Instant focus, tack sharp and just so easy to use.

I brought this camera almost a month ago but not had chance to use it until now I'm on holiday. First trip out with it was to a bird park where they were flying a Bald Eagle I tried the tracking on it on a flight not knowing how fast and low they fly, amazed how it tracked the bird even when it went...

I bought an R5 complete with this lens as an upgrade to an ageing 40D. The difference in both the camera and the lens is almost immeasurable. The lens is very well built and looks as if it will take some abuse. It is an ideal walkabout lens.

Incredible lens. Super sharp, fast and very versatile. I can easily just take this lens on a professional portrait shoot and be happy with the variety and quality.
